William Roy Hulgan

William Roy Hulgan, retired Lt. Col US Army, of Bend, TX, died peacefully at home Monday, December 3, 2018, surrounded by family. He lost a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born in Pekin, Illinois, June 15, 1950 to George Roy Hulgan and Helen Mae (Hughes). He grew up in Clinton, Illinois.

Bill served his country faithfully from 1968 until retirement at Fort Hood, Texas in 1992. He was stationed in Germany, Virginia, Korea, The Netherlands and Fort Hood, TX. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, brewing, bullet making, was an avid fan of the Houston Astros, and spending time with all of his family. He became an active member of all the churches he attended. He taught Sunday School, was a Lay Speaker, and played his guitar on the Praise team of the churches, Emmaus walks, and nursing homes. He enjoyed living his last 17 years on the Colorado River. He married Fran Barlow on March 12, 1977 at Fort Hood, Texas.

Rose Marie Jackson

Rose Marie Jackson, age 61, of San Saba, Texas passed away in Tow, Texas on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 surrounded by her family. Rose was born on January 1, 1957 in Deleon, Texas to Daniel Isaac Kelley and Dorothy May Crouch. She lived most of her life in San Saba and was known for her hard work and love of fishing on the San Saba River. Rose married Greg Jackson on February 14, 1984. Rose and Greg had a variety of different businesses they owned and operated. She loved to go gambling and have "get togethers" with friends and family.

Rose leaves behind her husband, Gregg Jackson of San Saba, Texas; three sisters: Reba Nell Kelley Hamrick of Troy, Texas; Marsha Kelley Davis of Mineral Wells, Texas; and Kathy Kelley Greene of Snyder, Texas; one son, Clifford Cook of Amarillo, Texas; two granddaughters, Summer and Brittany; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Brenda Gail Young.

Dr. Lillie Ruth Thomas

Dr. Lillie Ruth Thomas passed away on Monday night, November 26th, at the age of 91, due to complications from pneumonia. She was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on October 30,1927 to Lillie and Virgel Thomas. She is survived by her son, Frank, and daughter-in-law, Valerie Thomas, and grandson, Jack. Dr. Thomas is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Thomas.

Known as Lillie Ruth to her family and Ruth to her friends, she held many prestigious jobs in her lifetime and was the forerunner of women being allowed to work in Government. She was a teacher, a professor, a government auditor, a volunteer teacher, a wonderful cook, a traveler with her husband, Jack; and a wonderful, kind person.

Her grandfather and many relatives helped to establish San Saba, Texas, where she still has family members.

Paul Christopher Karrais

Paul Christopher Karrais, prominent machinist for Karrais Machine and Tool died Saturday morning November 24th in the early hours. He was 61 years old.

Paul Christopher Karris was born on a cold rainy day on November 10th 1957 to Paul Franz Karrais and Jaqueline Small Karrais. Soft spoken and obsessive by nature Paul could build anything he put his mind to. He was a rancher, caregiver, machinist, brother and a son. Paul was also someone who loved to see what was always on the other side of the fence. Traveling every chance he could get; meeting new people along the way.

Paul clung to the notion that life was not a series of meaningless accidents or coincidence rather, its a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.

Bill Gene Eller

Bill Gene Eller, age 71, of San Saba, Texas passed away in San Saba, Texas on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on January 1, 1947, the second of three boys. They later moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he learned to love the outdoors, basketball and football.

Bill was an avid reader all his life and he enjoyed novels, westerns, and the Bible. Some of his greatest gifts were books. Bill volunteered for the Navy after graduating high school and served three tours in the Vietnam War. He attended Northeastern State University after his return home from the Navy where he earned his BA degree in Economics. He returned to the military service as an officer in the Marine Corps. Bill was very proud to serve God and his country.

Malcolm Eugene “Red” Warren

Malcolm Eugene “Red” Warren, 81, of Buchanan Dam, Texas passed away November 14, 2018. He was born to James Malcolm and Velma L. (Smith) Warren on April 30, 1937 in Richland Springs Texas.

Red was a career Navy man and served from 1956-1979 as an Aviation Electronics Technician. Early in his career Red was stationed on the U.S.S. F.D.R. aircraft carrier. During Vietnam War, he served on the U.S.S. Ranger and was responsible for keeping the planes in the air. During his Navy career he was stationed in Newfoundland, Puerto Rico, Japan, and Midway Island. While on Midway Red loved to fish for the various species of fish that could be found around the Island. After retirement from the Navy, Red became a local Realtor in the Highland Lakes area of Texas. He was an active bird hunter and enjoyed raising Brittany hunting dogs and traveling to West Texas to hunt birds.

Felipe Ontiveros Romero

Felipe Ontiveros Romero, age 67 passed away with his family by his side on Monday, November 12, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. Felipe was born on October 14, 1951 in Los Rodriguez, Mexico to Concepsion and Tranquilina Ontiveros. He worked for the Wood brothers on their ranch in Richland Springs, Texas for over 20 years. He loved the outdoors and was an early riser. Felipe was a loving husband, father, and grandpa.

Andrew Jackson “Jack” Berryhill Jr.

Andrew Jackson “Jack” Berryhill Jr. departed this life on 10 November 2018 at the age of 80. He was surrounded by his beloved family and dog Little Man.

Jack was born May 21, 1938 to Mary (Tutor) and Andrew Jackson Berryhill Sr. in Tupelo, Mississippi. He married the love of his life JoAnn Buchanan September 8, 1961.

Jack worked for Llano Independent School District for numerous years and retired from the City of Llano. He enjoyed driving trucks working as a mechanic, camping, fishing and hunting.

James C. “J.C.” Hutson

James C. (“J.C.”) Hutson, age 86, of Sunrise Beach, TX, passed away on October 31, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Hutson; sons, Mark and daughter-in-law, Jackie, of Austin, TX, and Paul Kirk and son-in-law, Rick, of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; brother, Don Hutson; and many loving grandchildren and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, James Wade Hutson. J.C. was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. James C. “J.C.” Hutson J.C. was born in Rising Star, Texas in 1933. After graduating from Cross Plains High School in 1949, J.C. moved to Austin, where he attended the University of Texas. In Austin, J.C. met and fell in love with Ova Jean McDaniel and they were married in 1951. Shortly after moving to Austin, J.C. was called up by the Naval Reserve and was deployed to the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific. While serving in the South Pacific, J.C. was part of the U.S.

Frances Hammond Little

Frances Hammond Little, 68, was born on October 7, 1950 in Goldthwaite, Texas. She passed away in Brownwood, Texas on October 28, 2018. Frances' parents were Dee Albert Hammond and Vivian Merlene (Stark) Hammond. She married Richard "Dick" Little on December 18, 1971 in Goldthwaite. Frances and her husband later moved to San Saba, Texas, where she was Chief Financial Officer for Hill Country Community Action Association. She and her husband later returned to live in Goldthwaite until her death. Frances truly lived life to the fullest through the simplest pleasures. Whether it was cooking, camping, golfing or working, as long as she was around family and friends, she was smiling. Her laugh was contagious. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
