Arlene Myers Watson, 75, of San Saba, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in San Saba, on July 19, 1951, Arlene grew up in the country, where she helped care for the family animals and learned early the quiet value of hard work, responsibility, and caring for others.
She was the daughter of Arlie Myers and Valrea Doran Myers and the sister of Darlene Daniel.
Arlene graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Saba High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, Welton Watson. They married in 1968 and shared a devoted life together, truly doing everything side by side. They began their married life in San Saba and later lived in communities throughout Texas as Welton pursued his careers first as a police officer and later as a minister.
Arlene was a selfless, loving, kind, gentle, and soft-spoken woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She was always available to her family and was a patient and caring listener. Her daughters grew up hearing her reassuring words: “This too shall pass,” “It is what it is,” and “It’ll be alright.” When Welton would tease her, she would simply shake her head with a little smile and say, “You goofy man.”
Arlene worked for more than 20 years at Georgetown Insurance Agency. She then devoted the next 46 years to supporting Welton in his ministry and serving others alongside him. She taught Sunday school and children’s church, prepared meals for those in need, visited people in the hospital, and quietly cared for countless people through the years. Her ministry was expressed not only through what she did, but through the warmth, gentleness, and love with which she did it.
Above all, Arlene’s relationship with Jesus Christ was the center and foundation of her life. Her faith shaped every other part of who she was. She trusted Christ, lived her faith through service to others, and found peace in her relationship with Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 was a reflection of the faith she carried throughout her life: to trust in the Lord with all her heart and acknowledge Him in all her ways.
Arlene was a devoted mother to her daughters, Teresa Reneé Watson and Rebecca (Becky) Leigh Watson Batt. She was also a beloved grandmother who was always there for her grandchildren, playing games with them, taking them to the park, cooking their favorite foods, and making sure they always felt safe, loved, and well cared for. Her love continued into the next generation as a great-grandmother to seven.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 58 years, Welton Watson; daughters, Teresa Reneé Watson and Rebecca Leigh Watson Batt and her husband Timothy Jacob Batt; grandchildren: Daniel Mark Hixon II and his wife Kirsten, Timothy Scott Hixon and his wife Sarah, Mikayla Reneé Sharpless, Isaac Daniel Batt, Jackson Jacob Batt, Kaedon Wesley Batt and his fiancée Bella Benfield, and Lily Paige Batt; and seven great-grandchildren: Abigail Hope Hixon, Nora Lane Hixon, Alethea Joy Hixon, Zoë Alana Hixon, Alivia Grace Hixon, Sol Jak Hixon, and Vega Inés Hixon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Valrea Myers of San Saba.
Arlene’s greatest legacy is not found in possessions or accomplishments, but in the people she loved and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, faith, generosity, and quiet presence. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, friend, and servant of God who made the people around her feel safe, loved, heard, and cared for.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that the faith that guided her throughout her life has now brought her home to the Lord she loved and trusted.
