60 Years Ago January 23, 1964 Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Gage were in San Antonio to attend the RCA Whirlpool sales meeting held at the El Antonio Motor Hotel there. Personnel from RCA Whirlpool's factories were present to demonstrate the 1964 line of merchandise.

Pierian Club holds January meeting

The Pierian Club held their first meeting of the new year in the home of Maela Edmondson on Thursday, January 11. Twentynine members were in attendance and Marvin Whitt and Janice, Hull from the Cherokee Home for Children were welcomed.

Thomas Waterman of Rochelle named to fall 2023 dean's list

Thomas Waterman of Rochelle, Texas, was named to the fall 2023 dean's list at the University of Dallas for earning a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. Waterman is a Junior Physics major.

Public Libraries encouraged to apply for TSLAC Texas Reads grants

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) has announced that it is accepting applications for its state fiscal year 2025 Texas Reads competitive grant program. The Texas Reads grant funds public library programs that promote reading and literacy within local communities.

Marathon Kids at San Saba Elementary

Students at San Saba Elementary have been working on earning miles and running a marathon since August 2023. Marathons are reached by kids finishing miles in achievable increments or completing minutes of heartpumping activity.

Rotary Minute

Thursday, January 18th, San Saba Rotary Club had its regularly scheduled weekly meeting at Pepperbelly's Restaurant, Marcus Wood presiding. Sixteen members, one honor student, and guest speaker Heather Land Morris were present.
