The Pierian Club held their first meeting of the new year in the home of Maela Edmondson on Thursday, January 11. Twentynine members were in attendance and Marvin Whitt and Janice, Hull from the Cherokee Home for Children were welcomed.
Marvin gave a wonderful presentation on the mission and values of the home and encouraged the club to visit the website to learn more. https://www. chc4kids.org/ President Marcia Dyer called the meeting to order; Secretary Jacqueline Carlson called roll and read the minutes of the November meeting. Treasurer Catherine Hanrahan submitted her report, detailing expenses and donations. Brooke Bagley, Cards and Flowers Committee Chairman, reminded the group of the passing of Honorary Member Joycelyn McRorey who served as President 1976-78. A donation to the Gideons has been given in her name.
Projects Committee Chairman, Cissy Williams, reported that the Angels Unaware project was a success, and all gifts were greatly appreciated by recipients. Leah Oehrlein informed everyone that the Entertainment Committee is planning a Luau for the end of year party in May. Hostesses for the meeting were the Cards and Flowers Committee: Brooke Bagley, Lynn McHenry, Karen Gill, and Kay Stowell.
The February 8th meeting will be at ClearView Family Resources, located at the old hospital location. Dove Project donations will be taken at this meeting.
