San Saba Middle School held a Turkey in Disguise contest this Thanksgiving. Students exhibited so much creativity as they disguised their turkeys! Winners of this years contest include: 1st Place - Ximena Hernandez (Crayons disguise); 2nd Place - Yarely Gonzalez (Chick-Fil-A disguise); 3rd Place - Sofia Bagley (Mermaid disguise)

The San Saba Garden Club annually offers a contest for students in our area interested in writing poetry, creating sculptures from recycled materials, and showing their art skills in a poster contest promoting Smokey the Bear and Woodsy Owl.

The regularly scheduled luncheon meeting of Rotary occurred Thursday, November 9th, at Pepperbelly’s. President Buck Gilcrease presided over the meeting which had 15 members present, as well as two student guests and one new guest also in attendance.

Last week our varsity Indians football team began their playoffs journey. They played the Zephyr Bulldogs at San Saba. The Indians were up early, but the Bulldogs kept up through the first quarter. The Indians pulled away in the second quarter and the score at the half was 42-20.

Howard Payne University will participate in GivingTuesday on November 28. The event, held the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is a global day of giving that unites people, communities and organizations to celebrate generosity and raise support for non-profit organizations.
