Last week our varsity Indians football team began their playoffs journey. They played the Zephyr Bulldogs at San Saba. The Indians were up early, but the Bulldogs kept up through the first quarter. The Indians pulled away in the second quarter and the score at the half was 42-20. Cherokee held Zephyr through the rest of the game, not allowing any more points onto the scoreboard. The game ended with a final score of 63-20, making the Indians the bi-district champs. Cherokee will play for the area title against Loraine in Winters this Friday at 6:30 p.m. Go Indians!

Our Veterans Day program was a hit. We were able to honor so many veterans in our community and on our staff with a special breakfast. The program included Pre-K - 2nd graders singing 'God Bless America.'

Third grade through 8th grade participated in a poetry contest. The winners read their poems to the audience. Winners were Adelynn Merriman, Georgia Broyles, Asher Williams, and Samuel Thornton. Avery Wilson, a 3rd grader, sang 'The Star Spangled Banner,' and we were treated to some staff interviews as well. Thank you to the GT group who organized and planned this event.

Our FFA group traveled to Marble Falls for the Bluebonnet District Leadership Development event on the 8th. Farm Skills placed 2nd. Greenhand Chapter Conducting placed 2nd. Senior Chapter Conducting placed 4th. Senior Creed speaking placed 8th. Greenhand Creed speaking placed 7th. Radio Broadcasting placed 5th. Good luck to our Greenhand Chapter Conducting and Senior Farm Skills as the advance to the area competition!

Next week there will be no school in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope everyone has an enjoyable break!
