The Holidays.

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I have already begun the accounting of that for which I am thankful. And, at the same time, I feel myself begin to panic at the thought that semester exams are approaching, the STAAR retest is around the corner, and I have yet to do any Christmas shopping. It is silly, but it does stir up some anxiety. However, the holiday season for some, brings more than just some mild discomfort. For some, school is a place of stability. It is two guaranteed meals and a place of warmth. It is a place filled with friends and familiarity. As we approach extended breaks such as Thanksgiving or Christmas, please remember that some of our students are wrestling with the idea of being away from the one place that provides consistency and structure. They may be on edge, and therefore, you may see a change in behavior. As emotions may be running high over the next few weeks, please be patient and understanding with our students and our neighbors.
