High School Students Launch “Jesus Club” with Bibles & Breakfast

A group of enthusiastic students at San Saba High School kicked off the school year in a unique way by handing out Bibles and donuts to their fellow classmates on an early Monday morning while inviting their peers to join them for “Jesus Club” the following day.

Last week, our high school football players got some good practice in with a scrimmage against Zephyr right here in Cherokee. Our high school girls traveled to Belton to run in the cross country meet. We had three girls competing: Taylor Randolph, Tilar Turman, and Hannah Sims.

SONORA, TX — August 21, 2025 — The San Saba Armadillos wrapped up their preseason with a strong scrimmage on the road against the Sonora Broncos on Thursday night, showing steady improvement from both the junior varsity and varsity squads as they prepare to kick off regular season play.

SSISD staff treated to a cookout

For the eighth year, Texas Farm Bureau treated the staff at San Saba ISD to hamburgers and fixins'.On Friday, August 1st, Texas Farm Bureau served up 145 scrumptious, cooked-out hamburgers to the hungry SSISD staff. This year, they also gave the staff T-shirts.

Last week, our high school Cherokee Indians football team had a scrimmage in Rising Star, getting some good practice under their belts to prep for the season. This week, they will play in another scrimmage at home against Zephyr.

The San Saba Armadillos opened their football season with a solid showing in a scrimmage against the Brady Bulldogs on Friday night, at Rogan Field. Both the JV and Varsity squads took the field and tested themselves against one of the area’s top Class 3A programs.

Blessed by others... again

A group of students from Willow Park and Weatherford, Texas, raised money for school supplies for San Saba students after they heard about the flood. Not only that, but they came and delivered them personally last week at Armadillo Arena! See story School Supply giveaway at Armadillo Arena.
