News From Cherokee ISD

It was another great week for Cherokee football! Our junior high set the bar with a win over Zephyr. Coach Shipman says, “Big plays on offense and solid defense made quick work of the Bulldogs. An outstanding effort was (made) by all the boys.” The final score was 40-20.

The Battle of the River – the 103rd Edition!

San Saba will open District play this Friday against their oldest and most frequently played foe, the Goldthwaite Eagles. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Goldthwaite, but due to seating limitations the game was moved to Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood.

Registration open for CTC fall semester 10-week courses

Central Texas College (CTC) announced new classes have been added to the fall 2020 semester at its Service Area sites. Registration is now open for eight- and 10-week classes through the CTC WebAdvisor system. The courses will be conducted remotely, using real‐time, synchronous virtual lecture.

Coyote Pride

Teachers are ramping up as the school year kicks into full gear in the second six weeks. Teachers are dealing with stressed-out students, nervous parents, demanding administrators, COVID and, you know, a personal life.

Jordan Cattle Auction

Receipts totaled 2,789 head. Demand was good on most of all classes of cattle. The lighter weight stocker steers and heifers sold steady with 4 steers 423 lbs at $186.00 ($786.78). Feeder steers and heifers sold steady. The fleshy 550-750 lbs calves sold $3-$5 lower.
