THC denies permit request to relocate 1936 Alamo Cenotaph

The Texas Historical Commission (THC) denied a permit request from the City of San Antonio to relocate “Spirit of Sacrifice,” a 1936 cenotaph honoring Texian and Tejano soldiers who died at the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. The final vote was 12 to two against the request, with one member abstaining.

San Saba Lodge to meet Saturday, October 3rd

On Saturday, October 3rd, San Saba Masonic Lodge No. 612 will hold its regular stated meeting. There will be no meal or refreshments served. The Lodge will open at 7:00 p.m. Also, Masons and Masons Helpers are reminded to provide their community service reports for September.

CTC Police Academy holds virtual ceremony for graduating cadets

The Central Texas College (CTC) Police Academy recently hosted a virtual completion ceremony for 19 cadets in the 19-week, 720-hour Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC). The ceremony was broadcast live on Facebook for families to “attend.

Texas Senator Dawn Buckingham visited our town last Friday, September 25th, and one of her stops was the San Saba VFD Firehouse. Captain Jack Blossman was there to welcome her and her colleagues, and took them inside to the meeting room.
