Mason - San Saba ~ September 1, 2022 Receipts totaled 6,045 head. Demand was very good throughout the week with more areas getting some beneficial rain. Stocker steers sold $5-$10 higher this week with 3 steers 468 lbs at $232.00 ($1085.76), and stocker heifers were $2-$5 higher.

Armadillo Cross Country Report

Last Wednesday, August 31st, the Armadillo cross country teams traveled to Brownwood to compete in the Brownwood Invitational. Overall, the Lady Dillos placed 15th out of 20 teams while the boys came in 7th out of 16. The girls division had 153 participants, and the boys had 133 runners.

Armadillos battle the elements / Eagles for the win

It was an old fashion ground and pound football game last Friday in Junction as the Armadillos (2-0) prevailed over the Junction Eagles (0-2) 18-6.

Our dear friends Sam and Linda Purtee helped Larry and I move to San Saba, Texas, from Ohio in 2006. They loved visiting us twice a year staying in a camper across from the Senior Center. They developed many friendship's including the Wagner's. Here is a poem Linda wrote and gave to Margie.

San Saba vs. Johnson City: Week-three Preview

Game number three on the 2022 schedule will have San Saba (2-0) traveling to Johnson City (2-0) this Friday; game at 7:30 p.m. San Saba is coming off a 18-6 win over Junction while Johnson City defeated Thrall 43-14.

Oliver Pecan Company located at 1402 West Wallace Street in San Saba was founded in 1970 by Gordon Lee and Clydene Oliver. According to Holt Oliver, the Oliver family has lived in San Saba County since 1877 when they settled the Harmony Ridge Community.
