Mason - San Saba October 19, 2023 Receipts totaled 3,010 head. Demand was good this week even with the futures market continuing to move lower as the week went along. The stocker steers and heifers were $5-$7 lower after last weeks increases.

October is Fire Prevention Month,. Volunteers with the County Volunteer Fire Departments visited area schools to teach fire safety and let students inspect the equipment firefighters use.

Mason - San Saba October 12, 2023 Receipts totaled 2,129 head. The market continued to be active this week with good demand. The stocker steers sold $4-$6 higher with 3 steers 500 lbs at $310.00 ($1550.00). The stocker heifers were $6-$8 higher.
Russell Boening is a full-time farmer and rancher from Wilson County. He grows feed grains, cotton and wheat, as well as operates a dairy and a beef cattle operation with his brother near Floresville. He is president of the Texas Farm Bureau.

Sporadic rainfall across the state helped provide some relief, but more is needed to escape the intense drought conditions. “The rains in September renewed hope for some,” Tracy Tomascik, Texas Farm Bureau associate director of Commodity and Regulatory Activities, said.

The San Saba Golden Armadillo Band has been busy over the past few weeks. The band competed at the Hill Country Marching Festival in Fredericksburg on September 30th. They finished 3rd at that contest in Class 2A behind Mason and Harper.
