Emergency Conservation Assistance for 20 counties in Texas approved

August 12, 2025The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Texas is accepting applications for the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) in 20 counties to address damages from severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding.

Did flooding affect pecan orchards?

I spoke to Holt Oliver on August 6th to get an update on Oliver Pecan after the recent flooding. This information came from that meeting.The Oliver family has been in the Pecan Grove area and Elm Grove area since the 1870s. A lot of family land was affected, but luckily not many houses were.

SSISD staff treated to a cookout

For the eighth year, Texas Farm Bureau treated the staff at San Saba ISD to hamburgers and fixins'.On Friday, August 1st, Texas Farm Bureau served up 145 scrumptious, cooked-out hamburgers to the hungry SSISD staff. This year, they also gave the staff T-shirts.
