July 13, 2023 Receipts totaled 3,779 head. Demand was strong with a very good active market. The stocker steers were $8-$12 higher, and stocker heifers were $4-$14 higher. Feeder steers were $7-$14 higher with 5 steers 885 lbs at $216.00 ($1911.60) and 40 steers 730 lbs $227.00 ($1657.10).

Commissioners’ Court meetings are open to the public, and all are welcome to attend. The Court works very hard researching, learning about, discussing, and deciding important issues for San Saba County. Several County employees are also present at these meetings and give reports from their offices.

Like many of you, I have begun the task of spraying mesquite trees this summer. If you’ve ever done this job, you know that it is never completely done. You may be able to finish spraying a particular field or pasture, but unfortunately the process must be repeated again the next year.
