That Golden Season Ah, that detestable season, summer, is finally in the rearview. Yes, I am painfully aware that hot weather still can and does show up from time to time into December, but at least we can believe the grind of one 100 degrees plus days, every day, is over for a few months.

The monthly San Saba County Historical Society Board meeting was held Thursday afternoon, October 5th, at the Museum, President Lynn Blankenship presiding. The Board expressed grief at the sudden death and loss of Board Secretary Lisa Sloan Foil and requested flowers for her memorial service.

After supper (sometimes called dinner) on Sunday, October 8th, I decided to watch a movie that I selected on Prime on my TV. I selected a movie showing a cowboy on a ranch because it reminded me of Texas where I lived for 15 years. I disregarded the notice of negative things in the movie.

50 Years Ago October 11, 1973 Miss Randolph, 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Randolph of Belton and great granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Randolph of Cherokee, was a first-place winner in the NBTA Twirling Contest at the Heart of Texas Fair in Waco.
