The monthly San Saba County Historical Society Board meeting was held Thursday afternoon, October 5th, at the Museum, President Lynn Blankenship presiding. The Board expressed grief at the sudden death and loss of Board Secretary Lisa Sloan Foil and requested flowers for her memorial service.
Treasurer Jeffery Carlson reported on treasury highlights and congratulated Eagle Scout Jefferson Stencil, whose project to solicit donations for the Museum and Museum Expansion, raised $1,264. Treasurer Carlson, who previously had been directed to research providers of non-profit liability insurance, determined that The Hartford could provide reliable and affordable insurance for organizations like the Museum. The Board directed him to seek out a suitable plan for liability coverage.
Carlson advised the group that the Sweetwater audio equipment for utilization in the Museum in the Oral History Project was in and available to continue recording local historians’ stories.
December 13th was the date set for 6th-grader visits to the Museum from San Saba, Cherokee, and Richland Springs ISDs. In addition, in honor of Texas Independence Day, the March 2nd Night at the Museum is planned with many interesting speakers and exhibits.
Local residents are reminded that the Museum will remain closed between November and April except for these special occasions like the school visits and Night at the Museum.
