Last week, our Cherokee Indians football team took on the Rochelle Hornets. The junior high team came away with a big win of 69-36. The varsity team played hard as well. They were neck and neck with the Hornets through the first quarter and pulled away in the second quarter.

Coyotes tame the Mustangs

San Saba J.V. Dillos pluck Goldthwaite Eagles 55-20

The San Saba J.V. Dillos rolled over the Goldthwaite J.V. Eagles by a score of 55-20 in Goldthwaite Thursday. The Eagles kicked to San Saba. Luke Thorpe ran for 17; Graden Lebow ran for 12 and 3; Thorpe added 12. Jason Everett ran in for a touchdown, but it was called back for holding.

Our Cherokee Indians and Lady Indians dominated in the district cross country meet. For the junior high girls, Morgan Palermo placed 4th, Taylor Randolph placed 5th, Preslee Duggan placed 11th, Emily Penney placed 13th, Reese Miller placed 14th, and Ella Graves placed 21st.

Dillos lose another tight ball game

The road to the playoffs has become a little more complicated for the Dillos after a 41-38 loss to the Bangs Dragons last Friday night. The Dillos were 17-point favorites coming into the game, but the defense could not seem to stop the Dragons offense that was forced to punt just one time.

Battle of the River – The 106th Edition

The earliest recorded season of football for the Armadillos comes during the fall of 1916. Although, I will say, other records indicate there may have been other matches played. No mention of the game of football has been reported in the local newspaper.
