Last week, our Cherokee Indians football team took on the Rochelle Hornets. The junior high team came away with a big win of 69-36. The varsity team played hard as well. They were neck and neck with the Hornets through the first quarter and pulled away in the second quarter. The Indians maintained the lead throughout the second half and snagged the victory with a score of 84-72.

Cherokee’s Advanced Floral Design class attended the Fall Young Florists of Texas Competition in Caldwell, Texas, on October 18th. There were 20 teams of three competing. Cherokee walked away with the 3rd, 9th, 11th and 35th high-point individuals and 2nd place team! Lauren Roberson was 3rd high point, Maycie Shanklin was 9th high point, Annie Rutledge was 11th high point and Payton Hanley was 35th high point. This was their first competition ever, and we are very proud of them!

Mrs. Courtney’s pre-k class is continuing their “Color Me Healthy” program with McKinley Armstrong. During this lesson, students were detectives. They enjoyed being able to detect which fruits were in the brown mystery bag and pairing it with the matching dried fruit.

We are gearing up for our annual Fall Festival this Saturday. Costume contest registration will begin at 4:30 with games, and the meal continuing through the evening. As the festival winds down, we will play a game of Zombies vs Humans, a version of tag like Sharks vs Minnows. There will be trunk or treating at the school afterward with trick or treating in town as well. We will have many silent auction items to bid on too. There will be plenty of fun to be had while you raise funds for our PTC. All money raised by PTC goes directly back to the teachers, school, and students. Thank you in advance for your support.
