Gladys Mae Henniger Brister

Former Taylor resident, Gladys Mae Henniger Brister, walked into Heaven on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 9:46 a.m. After a brief in-home stay with Hospice care, her family rejoiced around her as she met Jesus, face to face.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. A Memorial Service with family and friends will be held Saturday, October 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Rough Creek Ranch in Bend, Texas.

Gladys was born on July 6, 1936, in San Saba, Texas, to Edmund and Elsie Henniger (deceased). She was the oldest of her four siblings - LaNell Daniels (deceased), Jane Clark, Lloyd Henniger, and Elsie Dean Shirley.

She grew up and attended school on the hill in Bend, Texas. When she was 19 and standing in her yard, she waved to a trailer full of young men hauling a load of hay, and it’s then she saw the love of her life, Emerson Brister. They were married on November 19, 1955, in Houston, Texas, raised four children, moved to Kansas and back again where they made their home in Taylor, Beaukiss, and the last 2.5 years at Grand Living in Georgetown, Texas. Their earthly journey together lasted 68 years.

Gladys is survived by her handsome husband and has left a legacy of love and laughter to her children - Walter (Thorndale, TX), Gayle (full-time RVer, no fixed address), Larry (Atlanta, TX), and Thomas (Georgetown, TX), along with 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. I have been blessed for 68 years, you made me so happy and full of cheers.

Ever since you said you would be my bride, I knew the good LORD was on our side. As we journeyed our way together, our life just seemed to improve and get better. My darling I am thankful you were mine, I love you for being so lovely and kind. Now as you walk with our Savior so true, remember Sugar Booger, I LOVE YOU!
