On September 29, 1985, Thomas Alexander Murray, IV was gifted to Kim Hatfield Murray and Tom Murray III. On July 18, 2026, he returned to the care of our Lord and Savior. His parents and their spouses, Janis Murray and Terry Kelly, appreciate the love they have received, and that he received during his lifetime.
Thomas is survived by his brothers, Seth Wade Graham and Tristan Kelly; sisters: Tirin Kelly, Jessica Graham, raised as a sister, Lora Graham and their children: Chloe Camille, Rylnn, Breelyn, Clair, Ethan, and Chance. His aunts and uncles were important in his life: Clif and Mary, Britt and Sherry, Danny and Carole, Sam and Laina, and his many cousins! And great Aunt Aline.
He was preceded in his departure by his grandparents, Bill and Juanita Hatfield and Pat and Hazel Murray. They loved and spent much time with him in his young years. And his Aunt Judy and Aunt Diane Hatfield (that bragged on his discipline: in turn he bragged on her spaghetti.) Aunt Cynthia and Uncle David.
People were his biggest love. He seldom met a stranger…often referred to as the welcome wagon of Llano. (must admit he never missed saying hi to the blondes).
He worked 20 years at the Llano Feed Store bragging he had been there longer than his boss! Mom labeled him the PR manager. He often gave all the month’s pens away in a short week. And caps from neighboring competitors had to be replaced!
He had a radar sense if a first responder was anywhere close. He would strike up a conversation, and they would give him a story, returning later with a shirt or patch from their workplace. He has literally a hundred caps, coins and shirts from many cities. And his prize badge from Hoot Decker. He referred to all the VFD members as his best friend. (Don’t be upset with me; almost everyone he was around for a very long time was awarded “you’re my best friend.”) He was allowed to attend the weekly meeting; he called the roll. He gave trouble to the ones that “ditched’ the meetings. And the tongue lashing he gave the ones that came in from a fire too late to fill up the truck. They never were allowed to forget it! He thought they cooked the family supper just for him.
Thomas attended the Presbyterian Church here in Llano. Thomas attended almost every Crawfish fundraiser in Llano: he golfed with the event his mom hosted for the SOC folks and the last 20 years with the Smith boys. You could hear his group all across the course when he putted a birdie.
Thomas spent many weekends at San Saba running Hamricks and keeping the table of knowledge fully informed of his important business. He was a top hand on the ranch counting and feeding cows.
Thomas passed in San Saba with his parents on July 18. On Saturday, July 25, 2026, a farewell service was conducted in San Saba starting at 8:30. He was escorted to Llano by 18 area Game Wardens. In Llano, the local Fire Department trucks escorted him to the graveside. An End Of Service was conducted by the Law and VFD personnel.
Afterwards, we hosted a celebration of his wonderful and full life at the American Legion Hall with food, prayers, and “Thomas Stories.” It was a come and go lunch to share all his gifts with the family.
