Gloria Jane Clark was born on September 7, 1943, in Lampasas County, Texas. On July 14, 2026, after battling chronic kidney disease for many years, she was sung home to Jesus surrounded by her family in Bend, Texas.
Visitation was held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Graveside services were held at the Clark Family Cemetery, 1625 CR 440, San Saba, Texas, (Bend) on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10 a.m.
Jane was born and raised in Bend, Texas. She married William Boyd Clark in the Bend Church of Christ on January 1, 1967. In that same church, she raised a family and became a lifelong member. They were married and lived in the Bend for over 59 years.
Jane held several jobs through her life, from her young days of helping in the fields picking cotton, to waitressing, to flower shops, to creating her own cake catering business, to basically being an event coordinator. She loved to entertain, host, and plan parties - and she was exceptional at it. Jane was an active member in the Bend Community Home Demonstration Club for decades. Her art hangs on the walls in her home and in the homes of her children, grandchildren, friends, and family. Her art didn't stop at paintings; she loved to create crafts - everything from needlepoint to beadwork, miniatures, ornaments, stained glass, and sewing. Many of the textiles in her home, and often the clothing her children and she herself wore through the years, she created and sewed herself. She loved to work in the yard and for as long as she was able, she had a showcase yard and gardens lush and filled with colors of the rainbow. She loved to sing, sometimes in two languages, and some of her favorite memories are the big church singings the Bend or Lometa church hosted throughout the years. It was one of the reasons she so enjoyed hosting the annual church Christmas party with so many friends singing praises to the Lord. Jane also loved to play cards. Many memories were created with her friends and family - especially her grandkids - playing cards, and Granny usually won. Jane and William loved to travel, and they saw many places in their years together. She enjoyed spending time at their place in Crested Butte, Colorado. She loved the mountains and the forests in the fall. She helped create amazing memories for three generations, various families and friends, in the beautiful Colorado Rockies, specifically her annual girls' trip with her faithful sidekicks, Deane and Carrie.
Jane was accomplished in so many amazing ways, both big and small, but she considered her greatest achievement her loving family - being a mother and then a granny. She and William were blessed with five children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and she was a very active granny in her family's lives for as long as she was able. More than anything, she loved her family, and she was a wonderful and faithful Granny to many who walked through her doors.
Jane is survived by her husband, William Clark of 59 years; her five children and their spouses: Bobby Clark of Bend, Texas, Dan Hays-Clark of Natchez, Mississippi, Boyd Clark and Brandy of Bend, Texas, Jamie Clark and Matthew Norris of Lampasas, Texas, and Kristie Clark Messer and Doug of Lampasas, Texas; her nine grandchildren: Kassandra Buras and Trey of Portales, New Mexico, Jesse Clark and Jessy of Canyon, Texas, Andrew Clark and Kenzee of Bend, Texas, Alexander Clark of Bend, Texas, Abigail Norris of Lampasas, Texas, Elijah Clark and Karsyn of Las Vegas, Nevada, Silas Clark of Lubbock, Texas, Jordan Messer of Lampasas, Texas, and Jaylee Messer of Lampasas, Texas; her four great-grandchildren: Teagyn Buras, Collins Rae Clark, Clancy Jane Clark, and William Wade Clark; her sister, Elsie Deane Shirley of Belton, Texas; her brother-in-law, Emerson Brister of Georgetown, Texas; her sisters-in-law, Pat Henniger, Carrie Kenney, CheeChee Brockman, Toni Mayben, Penny Clark, all of Bend, Texas.
She is also survived by her special friends, Tommye Marley, Judy McCoy, and OraBeth Hicks, all of Bend, Texas, and Mary Boyd of Lampasas, Texas, as well as her many nieces, nephews and those who have called her Granny through the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Elsie Henniger; her sister, LaNell Parish; her sister, Gladys Brister; her brother, Lloyd Henniger; her son-in-law, Bill Ennis; her sisters-in-law, Johnnie Kenney, Mary Pike, Monte Arms, and Nancy Hicks.
