Hill Country CattleWomen schedules first meeting of new year

The Hill Country Cattle-Women’s regular September meeting will be cancelled. They will next meet on October 20, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. with Social Time and 10:30 a.m. Meeting. A catered box lunch will be available. The meeting will be located at Haverlah Ranch 17900 CR 310, Cherokee, Texas.

Texas sees uptick in agricultural land values The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released its 2020 Land Values report. The average value of Texas agricultural land, including buildings, is up 2.4 percent this year at $2,170 per acre.

Beware of Sleeping Dogs

You cannot really tell the real nature of a dog when he is sleeping. Over the years, I have walked up to many yard fences or knocked on many a door, and I have learned to look very carefully to see if there is a dog there. There may be, and he may be sleeping very peacefully.

DPS Releases Crime in Texas Report

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) released the 2019 Crime in Texas Report. The report is a collaborative effort and the direct result of the more than 1,200 Texas sheriffs and chiefs of police who participate in the Uniform Crime Reporting program.
