House OKs $4.5 billion for teacher pay raises The Texas House last Thursday passed two education-related bills, one that allocates $4.5 billion for teacher pay raises and another to increase the annual per-student base funding from $6,160 to $6,300 – a 2.3% increase.

Walk Across Texas Leaderboard

Walk Across Texas is a teambased program that is designed to get Texans up and moving. Walk Across Texas is an eightweek program. Our third week of WalkAcross Texas wrapped up on Sunday! The team goal is 832 miles. The numbers listed are the miles they have walked thus far.

Educators and students recognized by Masonic Bodies

On Monday, May 1st, the Freemasons of San Saba, Order of Eastern Star & the Scottish Rite Club hosted their 31st annual Awards / Seniors Banquet. The 2023 senior class of Cherokee, Richland Springs and San Saba High Schools were in attendance.

Pierian Club members enjoyed a day trip to Blanco for their April meeting. They visited the farm home of Betsy and Steve Scheffe, friends of Marsha Smart.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension service of Callahan County will be hosting a virtual wildlife series on May 12 and May 18. The program is free, all you will need is your computer or cell phone to log into the program through Zoom. Both programs will be held during the lunch hour from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Mason - San Saba April 20, 2023 Receipts totaled 1,894 on Thursday & 5,496 head for the week. The market continued to be active with good demand. The stocker steers and heifers sold steady with 3 heifers 555 lbs at $220.00 ($1221.00).
