Governor Abbott waives grade promotion requirements for 2020-2021 STAAR Testing

Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the grade promotion requirement related to the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test for students in grades 5 and 8 has been waived for the upcoming school year. Typically, school systems must take into account a student’s score on the STAAR test to determine whether the student can be promoted to the next grade level. The traditional A-F rating system will remain in place, albeit with certain adjustments due to COVID-19.

Ag Commissioner issues warning on unsolicited seeds from China

Packets containing an unknown variety of seeds were mailed to Texas residents Today, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is urging Texans to take extreme precaution when receiving unsolicited seed packets from China. These packets have been mailed to multiple states, including Texas, falsely labeled as jewelry.

San Saba Lodge to meet Saturday, August 1st

Reward offered for information on suspects involved in Capitol protests

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is asking for the public’s help in finding 10 people involved in crimes during protests that led to rioting at the Texas State Capitol on May 30, 2020. The 10 unidentified individuals (pictured on the right) are wanted on misdemeanor and/or felony charges, including riot, criminal mischief (vandalism), assault on a public servant, attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer and interfering with public duties.
