October 6, 2020 marked the 25th anniversary of Bucky charting an amazing 31 tackles in a single game, which was a National and State Six-Man record that still stands today.

At any given time, the Texas Department of Transportation has as many as 3,000 active work zones on the 80,000 miles of roadway it maintains across the state. I-35 is a major transportation artery and one of the largest active work zones in Texas. In 2019, a total of 20,488 traffc crashes occurred along the I-35 corridor, resulting in 141 deaths and 523 serious injuries. As the summer travel season continues, TxDOT encourages all motorists to make sure they take precautions when driving on I-35, especially through construction and maintenance areas.

State Cuts Food Bank Funding as Need Soars

The Texas Department of Agriculture slashed food bank funding by 44%, despite record need related to the COVID-19 health crisis. The $1.9 million cut is to the Surplus Agricultural Product Grant, which helps food banks procure fresh produce from local growers.

I was busy shredding the ditch in front of our farm in Coryell County, casually waving at folks that drove by. A sweet woman turned her car around and came back to the tractor. Curious, I turned off the engine to see what she needed. “Do you need some help?” she said. “I saw you wave and thought you might have trouble.” I assured her I was fine, but appreciated her concern. Neighbors helping neighbors is the unwritten rule of country living.
