I poked my head outside for the first time in about two weeks. I do not like the cold. I left Canada for Australia because I wanted yearround temperate weather. I met this wonderful Texan and moved to a hot country. Cold is not on my agenda. I will admit the twoday snow event was pretty. I even managed to throw a few snowballs for the fun of it. Snowball number three reminded me why snowball throwing is not so much fun. It took several arm pit moments to get those pinkies warm again. Still, I’m glad that our kids experienced this event. My 30-year-old grandson had never made a snowman. It’s hard to imagine for a snowbird like me.

Thank Texas School Board Members during School Board Recognition Month

Body
From working closely with the community to supporting the success of public education, to overseeing the district superintendent, to attending trainings, to encouraging constant growth, Texas school board members volunteer countless hours to ensure students have the best schools possible. To honor the more than 7,200 locally elected trustees in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has declared January School Board Recognition Month. The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) is joining the celebration by encouraging the community to show appreciation to these men and women.

Where was this snow at Christmas for San Saba County?!?

Going through those church doors seems even more inviting due to the magnificent building surrounded by the gorgeous almost blinding white snow! (Photo by Djuana Payton) Our beautiful courthouse only made more picturesque by the beautiful snow that fell in San Saba county this past weekend. (Photo by Djuana Payton) So, what do you do when it’s snowing at church time, during church time and after church time? Well, as Rodney Payton does.
