100 Years Ago September 24, 1925Mr. and Mrs. Sam Taylor received a wire this week from Dallas that they had a new granddaughter. A sweet little daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Gates of Dallas.Cage Moore has been elected captain of the football team with Harris Fagg as line-captain.

San Saba Paying Tribute to the Life & Legacy of Charlie Kirk

The San Saba Ministerial Alliance sponsored a Candle Light Vigil in honor of Charlie Kirk last Tuesday, September 16th, outside the San Saba County Courthouse.The event started at 7 p.m. At 6:40, there were already over 55 people there gathered.

New Livestock Show Barn set to enhance SS County Fair experience

The San Saba County Livestock Show is set to receive a major upgrade with the construction of a state-of-the-art barn, thanks to a generous donation and proceeds from the highly successful San Saba County Wild Game Dinner.

Pierian Club meeting “Hat’s off to New Beginnings”

The ladies of the Pierian Study Club held the first meeting of the new year on Thursday, September 11. The theme of the meeting was “Hats off to New Beginnings” and lots of the ladies wore their favorite hats for the occasion.We met under the shade trees at Fiesta Winery at Bend.

River City Band begins rehearsals for a new season

The River City Band started its fall rehearsal season on Monday, September 22nd, in preparation to play a Christmas concert during San Saba’s “Sip and Stroll” celebration in December. The concert will be prior to the lighted Christmas parade.

Meet OzzyOzzy is a 12- week-old German Shepherd and Lab mix puppy. Last weekend at our San Saba County Friends of Animals pop-up event at Lowe’s Market, he got so much attention. Many people stopped to look at him and pet him. Everyone thought he was sweet but no one said yes I want him.
