This big black bass was recently caught by Ryan Biel of Dripping Springs on the San Saba River using a plastic worm. After the photos, this big catch was returned to the river. Ryan is one of Jim Conyers’ sons-in-law. Jim said, 'I’ve fished this stretch of the San Saba in Sloan community for many years, and this is by far the largest bass I've seen caught.' Well it has been about six months since I updated our community on the Restoration Renovation Project underway at the Methodist Church. We have just about completed the exterior work and will then move on to the infrastructure and refinishing the inside.

Marker Inscription: On this site September 29, 1835 the Gonzales cannon was buried from the 150 Mexican Dragoons sent to demand it. Two days later it was mounted on ox-cart wheels, loaded with chains and scrap iron, and fired at the Mexican Army, the first shot of the Revolution. This location was known as George W. Recently Wayne Gatliff a native of San Saba and current resident, along with his daughter Lisa and son-in-law Randy, travelled to Lindale, Texas, to present a handmade gift of appreciation to two of the restaurants that fed San Saba after the floods.
