    Do you know what Keep San Saba Beautiful (KSSB) does?

    History: Keep San Saba Beautiful is a committee, commissioned in 2009 for the City of San Saba created to assist the City Council “in establishing a citywide policy for decreasing the amount of litter in the city.” Composed of eight (8) Board members which were nominated and approved by the city council, their mission is “to educate and engage citizens to take responsibility for improving their community environment.” The KSSB Board volunteers are Gale Ivy, Rhonda Killion, Debbie Shahan, Kathleen Hawkins, Sandra Vaughn, Marcie Butler, Cissy Williams, and Lucia Martinez. These eight dedicated volunteers go above and beyond to serve your community in this capacity without compensation. Since its inception, the commission has assisted in the development, implementation, and execution of several programs related to litter prevention, beautification and community improvement, and the minimization of solid waste. The impact these programs have made in this community can clearly be seen throughout town, whether street and sidewalk improvements, community garden(s), downtown flower beds and planters, park beautification rock walls and benches, gateway welcome signs, a recycling program, school education programs, and city-wide cleanups, these volunteers get the job done!

    One of the many things they do is organize two city-wide cleanups, one in the spring and one in the fall. On Saturday, October 18, 2025, partnering with the city of San Saba, KSSB will hold a Fall Sweep, City-wide cleanup and are asking you to volunteer.

    They invite you to join them in keeping this community cleaner. Volunteers may register under the city tent located on the east side of the Courthouse; registration begins at 8 a.m. Volunteers will go into the community to clean up litter. Volunteers will be provided with free cleanup supplies, snacks, lunch, and have chances to win prizes. For several years, KSSB has volunteered to make your community cleaner, greener, and more beautiful. Please come out and be a part of what KSSB does for your community. And this is only one event they do.
