Hello, San Saba loves, and how did it become the middle of June already? I had my 3rd birthday, a year passed since dad’s death and time just seems to be flying by! I may not know how to tell time and may wake mom up at all hours of day and night, but I do notice life passing by.

2024 Kids' Nature Kamp Roundup

Kids’ Nature Kamp (KNK) in San Saba’s awesome parks was a huge success again this year, the 9th annual event! Fifty kampers from age 6 to 11 enjoyed three days of fun beginning in San Saba Nature Park on May 29.

Edgar T. Neal Marker Dedication

On Saturday, June 1, 2024, a new Texas Historical Marker was dedicated to the life, times and memory of Edgar T. Neal. Located on the east side of the courthouse square, the program was under the direction of the San Saba County Historical Commission with Marker Chairman Jerry W.
Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Agents, Shelia Meador and John Hert, placed the winning bid in the San Saba High School Mural Auction. Four ladies, plus yours truly, trekked out to Stonewall to stay at Emily’s Haus with Kay and Carolyn Huffman. This is always a delightful, restful, and productive retreat. We chose to provide our own meals this time, but I like the feeling of being pampered when someone else cooks.

GEORGE TYLER and his Donkey TOBE, the clown and donkey act of the San Saba Rodeo & War Bond Rally, will make nightly appearances Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will assist the cowboys in fighting the wild Bahama bulls. He has clowned in Chicago; Sidney, Iowa; Cheyenne, Wyoming and many rodeos throughout the north and west.

100 Years Ago June 12, 1924Gene Harber is fixing things around his river farm home like he intends to stay permanently. He is making some valuable improvements on his residence. He has a job with Uncle Same carrying the mail on Route 4, and at odd times he raised truck, berries and fine pecans.
