Receipts totaled 5,418 head. The market started the week out strong and continued to move higher with stocker steers selling $15-$25 higher with 4 steers 411 lbs at $430.00 ($1767.30) and 15 steers 500 lbs at $367.50 ($1837.50). The stocker heifers were $15-$30 higher.
One of the historic 50 year old landmarks of San Saba County was destroyed by fire when a fire started in the lunchroom of the Cherokee School and destroyed the building. Inadequate water supply made the checking of the fire impossible. Built in 1895 to house Cherokee Junior College, the building has been an educational structure for 50 years. Since the college was suspended, the Cherokee Public School has been housed in the building.––February 1, 1915 issue of San Saba Star

110 Years Ago January 21, 1915Mr. R. G. Stone and Mrs. Myrtle Mickle were united in marriage at the John Roach ranch January 3. Mrs. Mickle came here from San Saba county and is an old friend of the Roach family. Mr. Stone is one of our popular ranchman and has a host of friends in the county.B. D.

15th Annual Hunting with Soldiers Weekend

This past weekend, The Father’s House church hosted the 15th annual Hunting with Soldiers guided hunt for 17 veteran soldiers who traveled from all over the state of Texas. One of the veterans even came all the way from Kansas.Statistically, 22 veterans commit suicide every day.
