Mr. R. G. Stone and Mrs. Myrtle Mickle were united in marriage at the John Roach ranch January 3. Mrs. Mickle came here from San Saba county and is an old friend of the Roach family. Mr. Stone is one of our popular ranchman and has a host of friends in the county.
B. D. Sullivan & Son and a force of hands completed moving the residence of A. G. Vanderhider, on the Williams old farm near the Beveridge bridge. Mr. Vanderhider has had the home remodeled, splendid barns built and otherwise improving his new home.
The first snow of the season fell overnight and morning dawned with the earth blanketed in white. The snow measured only one half inch but for a few hours before the sunshine melted it, it afforded much pleasure for the youngsters.
Fresh popped corn and peanuts every day at Dockrao’s stand and at the Majestic at night.
A message from J. L. F. Fentress who is at Waxahachie attending the State Corn Growers Association announces that he will return with the following trophies. Grand Championship of Texas, Ponder Cup for the best ten ears of corn in Texas, Holland Trophy cup and Championship. The Fentress Improved Strawberry Corn has already won a wide reputation and is being sought for by people all over Texas for seed.

Buster Pool was at the Brooks auction sale and brought back home with him a thousand dollar bull, and he is a dandy.
Mrs. J. L. Partesius, who has been in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, with her husband, returned home as Pfc. Partesius is being transferred to another camp on the east coast.
Staff Sgt. James T. Means, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Ralph means of San Saba, has been decorated with the air Medal, it was recently announced by the commanding general Eighth Air Force. The citation which accompanied Sgt. Means’ decoration read: “For exceptionally meritorious achievement while serving as the waist gunner of a B-17 Flying Fortress on a number of sustained bomber combat missions over German and enemy occupied Europe.
Mrs. J. C. Campbell is in Dallas buying spring merchandise for the Norette Shoppe. Her niece, Mrs. Fred Brison of College Station, accompanied her.
Nelson Rushing has opened the San Saba Radio & Electric Repair Shop in the May Building and has modern equipment to do this kind of work and is a member of the official Radio Service Men’s Association. Mr. Rushing was reared in Abilene where he attended school and he married a San Saba County girl, the former Miss Forestine McGregor, and for the past few years has made his home in Richland Springs.
