Have you ever driven by a home with PIZZAZ that caught your eye? Just swing by 201 West View Terrace to see what we found.

The home of Dr. Craig and Karen Whiting has that zing to brighten up their yard. In 2002, Dr. Whiting filled the position at the Hoerster Clinic, moving from Hewitt where he was a clinical professor at UNT HSC, Ft. Worth. Karen recently retired as secretary at First Baptist Church.

Chemistry Show and backpack/ school supply giveaway on July 28th at San Saba’s First Baptist Church

Families will be amazed and entertained by explosions, colored foam, liquid nitrogen and glow-in-the-dark solutions during the Amazing Chemistry Show on Saturday, July 28, at 4:00 p.m.

Founded by Josh Denhart, The Amazing Chemistry Show is an educationally entertaining stage production using fast-paced and engaging science experiments to captivate kids and adults while sharing about the love God has for them.

Capital Farm Credit returns $77.5 million to borrowers

More than $700 million over the past 10 years

This spring, Capital Farm Credit (CFC) returned $77.5 million cash to its members in the form of patronage dividends. In addition, we're setting aside $86.3 million in Allocated Equities for future distribution to our members, for a total 2018 patronage declaration of $163.8 million.

"As a borrower-owned cooperative, our members are also our owners," said Ben Novosad, chief executive officer. "When Capital Farm Credit is successful, our members are successful."

San Saba County Sheriff’s Office issues rabies alert

San Saba County Sheriff’s Office wants to alert the public of a confirmed case of rabies found in this county.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has confirmed that a fox from San Saba County has tested positive for rabies.

The fox was found in the 300 block of County Road 112. The fox did come in contact with a human and several cats before being euthanized and tested.

San Saba County Chamber of Commerce announces 2018 scholarship recipient

The Civic Leadership Scholarship for 2018 was awarded to Analyn Bohensky, a 2018 graduate of San Saba High School. She is a resident of San Saba and has been accepted at University of Texas.

Analyn wrote on her application, "I have never thought of the future without a college education." She shared she has  always yearned for the true college experience.

First United Methodist Church welcomes new pastor

Born in San Antonio, Texas, Mark spent most of his pre-school and school years either on family ranches in the Texas Hill Country, or in Austin, Texas where he attended public school and the University of Texas.

In 2006, Mark got a call to serve the Lord, and applied and completed the requirements for a Licensed Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church.

Central Texas Farm Credit hires Myia Stewardson

Central Texas Farm Credit recently hired Myia Stewardson as a loan officer trainee in the rural lending cooperative’s San Saba branch office.

Previously, Stewardson was a teacher for 15 years at San Saba ISD, where she taught agriculture science and fifth-grade science, social studies and technology.

She and her rancher husband, John, were participants in the 2015 Farm Credit Young Leaders Program, where they were recognized for outstanding leadership and involvement in the ag industry. Stewardson is secretary of the San Saba County Young Farmers.

City Council holds regular meeting June 12th

Employees of the Month and Supervisor of the Second Quarter recognized; Action to permanently close San Saba Pecan Pool placed on hold

The San Saba City Council held a regular session on Tuesday, June 12th, in the City Hall Chambers. Mayor Ken Jordan called the Council to order at 6:00 p.m., announced a quorum and welcomed everyone. Mayor Pro-Tem Mark Amthor gave the invocation and led everyone in the flag pledges.

The following Council members were in attendance: Ken Jordan, Mayor; Mark Amthor, Mayor Pro-Tem; Oleta Behrens, Alderman; Shawn Oliver, Alderman; Robert Whitten, Alderman and Stan Weik, City Manager. Charles Peeler, Alderman, was absent.
