The schedule is as follows: Livestock Show: Friday, January 11th, 9:00 a.m. - Show Barn (Water St. and Church St.) Buyers Club Meal: Saturday, January 12th, 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. - Civic Center (Mill Pond Park) Auction Sale: Saturday, January 12th, 5:30 p.m. - Civic Center (Mill Pond Park) The Buyers Club is seeking donations once again to support the youth in San Saba County at the Livestock Show and Sale. We have many supporters who graciously purchase animals outright without the assistance of other donors. Some supporters find that the charitable purchase of a sale animal is outside of their financial ability or they wish to split their donation up to more than one exhibitor.

Central Texas Farm Credit to return $6.5 million to customers

Central Texas Farm Credit customers will receive a record $6.5 million refund in March 2019, thanks to the rural financing cooperative’s strong financial results in 2018.

As a borrower-owned coop, Central Texas Farm Credit keeps only the earnings it needs for growth and stability, and returns the rest to its members through its patronage program. Patronage refunds lower customers’ borrowing costs by giving back a portion of the interest they paid on their loans.

Commercial National Bank’s Christmas Giveaway

The children were in the pew in front of me.

We had not arrived early enough at my sister’s church for the Christmas Eve service to secure a seat in back, so we were in the fourth row. The first row is never used by anyone, the second row is only for people who arrive impossibly late. The third row is, for all intents and purposes, the front row and that’s where these two wild looking children were.

The children were provisioned with colored pencils and drawing paper but, other than that, looked rather neglected. Neither one had seen a comb in a long time. Both were dressed in a combination of outdoors wear and pajamas. Neither was actually sitting on the pew. The girl was sitting on the floor, using the bench as a drawing table, the boy was sprawled out across the bench, arms and legs akimbo. I felt myself making judgements. I get that way sometimes.

“Seriously,” I thought, “is getting out of their pajamas too much to ask?”
