San Saba Elementary School collects over 50,000 plastic bottles to recycle

Body
The San Saba Elementary students (PK-4th Grade) collected 50,031 plastic bottles as a result of a challenge we received from the Keep San Saba Beautiful organization! The KSSB, partnering with the GAC/DMWT Trash Off this past Saturday, April 13, asked the students to collect as many bottles as they could from March 4 through April 11. Not only did the students respond positively to this challenge, but they also took it very seriously! Many students conducted research about recycling and taking care of our planet! Students made announcements daily regarding the importance of taking care of our world and gave examples of how to do this! The kindergarten students collected the most out of all grade levels with a total of 12,770 bottles! First Grade students came in as a close 2nd place with 12,219 bottles! Next were 2nd grade students collecting 9,565 bottles, 3rd grade students collecting 5,486 bottles, 4th grade students collecting 5,111 bottles, and PK students collecting 4,880 bottles.
