AUSTIN, Texas – A group of talented art students from San Saba High School (SSHS) recently made the trip to Austin last Friday to compete in the prestigious Rodeo Austin Youth Art Show, one of the region's premier competitions for young artists.

Rotary Student-of-the-Month was awarded to Karen Ortega.Each month, a different senior is awarded. Awards are based on leadership, character, teacher nominations.Recipients are presented to the student body as well as the school board.

The San Saba Golden Armadillo Band Boosters are hosting a menudo and brisket plate fundraiser on February 28, in front of the San Saba Courthouse. Menudo sales will start at 830 a.m. and brisket at 1030 a.m. A large container of menudo with trimmings, a tortilla and drink will be $12.

Cherokee ISD students and staff evacuated

The news office reached out to Cherokee ISD Principal Jennifer Bordner for more information on their campus being evacuated on January 29th.Early in the school day on January 29th, the Cherokee ISD campus was briefly evacuated as a precautionary measure due to a propane-related issue.

Last week, our Cherokee Indians and Lady Indians traveled to Priddy to play basketball. They girls came up a little short with a score of 44-31 in favor of the Lady Pirates. However, the boys made up for it with a decisive victory of 67-29.
