Cherokee ISD News

Last week, our Cherokee Indians and Lady Indians traveled to Priddy to play basketball. They girls came up a little short with a score of 44-31 in favor of the Lady Pirates. However, the boys made up for it with a decisive victory of 67-29.

We are excited to announce that our Welding and Ag Mechanics program received the Exxon-Mobile Good Neighbor Grant in the amount of $5,000 to be used for equipment and supplies. This money will be put to good use for our students!

At the end of this week, we will be observing the Get Your Teach On: Rock Your School day! This year’s theme is Glow for Growth and our teachers have been enthusiastically preparing for a glowing good time and lots of learning. Stay tuned for a recap of all the engaging lessons from that day.

Progress reports will be coming out soon on the 26th. Keep an eye out for those. Progress reports are a great piece of communication and give students an opportunity to figure out where they need to improve. Use this as a tool to encourage your student where they’ve earned it and to challenge your student where they need it. Also, this is a great jumping off point for a conversation with your student’s teacher. They are happy to give tips on what your student can work on.

Have a great week and watch out for icy weather this weekend!
