Tommy A. Behrens

Thomas A. Behrens, 81, of San Saba, Texas, passed away on June, 16, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. A funeral service for Tommy will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2026, at San Saba's First Baptist Church and will be officiated by Rev. John Alsbrooks. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral home of San Saba.

Born on January 25, 1945, to Albert Behrens and Jane Carter Behrens, Tommy lived a life marked by dedication to agriculture, education, faith, and family. He was a proud graduate of San Saba High School and later earned his masters degree from Texas A&M University. Following his graduation from Texas A&M, he returned home to San Saba, where he began a distinguished career as the agricultural teacher at San Saba High School. Throughout his years in education, he shaped the lives of countless students through his knowledge, guidance, and passion for agriculture. He remained dedicated to his students and community until his retirement from San Saba High School.

In addition to his career in education, Tommy was a devoted rancher who found great satisfaction in caring for the land and livestock that were such an important part of his life.

Tommy was a faithful member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of San Saba, where he enjoyed fellowship and worship among his church family.

Above all, Tommy treasured his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Loy Nell Behrens of San Saba; his sons, Ray Behrens of Austin and Ross Behrens and his wife, Hallie, of Burnet; and his beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Allison Behrens of Burnet.

He is also survived by his brothers, Carter Behrens and his wife, Laura, and family of San Angelo; and David Behrens and his wife, Mary, and family of San Saba; and by his sister, Janis Murray and her husband, Tom, and family of San Saba.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Behrens and Jane Carter Behrens. Tommy will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, commitment to agriculture, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and faith. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched as a teacher, rancher, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
