Pauline Zapata Rodriguez, 94, of San Saba, Texas, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Harker Heights, Texas. She was born in Melvin, Texas, to Eucivio and Christina (Zapata) Garza on August 6, 1926. She married David Rodriguez in 1948 in San Saba, Texas.

Pauline was a very religious person who believed strongly in God and just as strongly in love of family. She raised her family to always respect everyone, and she always practiced what she preached.

She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, of which she had an abundant number! A lot of her life she was always having to deal with adversity. The loss of one of her twins, Esther, at the young age of three months old, and first husband at his age of 26 that left her with three children to raise on her own and then the tragic loss of her first born, Jose Santos, at his young age of 26. Then losing her daughter, Florence, also. Through all these tragedies, she remained steadfast in her belief in God and the love of life to her last days. She was beloved by her entire family and all who knew her. Pauline had big heart and was the picture of what a perfect mom would be. She loved having family gatherings especially during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, but her favorite was celebrating her birthdays with family. Her concern was never about herself and always about family and friends. She would literally give you all of what she had if you asked her for it. And if she could not help you when you asked, it would tear her apart. Pauline was the definition of a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a most wonderful person and friend one could have. And she was my mother. A letter from Connie Cisneroz, “After living in New York for over 30 years, I finally came home to be spend time with my mom. These four years were the most precious years I got to spend with her. We enjoyed each other’s time together. We would love to go cruising, listen to music, get a bite to eat, and go by the park where we played baseball. She would say come on Blue Jays, Mustangs, Angels, Hot Stuff (name of the baseball teams) get a home run. She loved to watch us play ball. These are some memories we will treasure forever. My mom is my heart and forever angel. I know she will continue to watch over us from heaven. She is home with our heavenly Father singing, dancing, and free of pain. Although you were my grandmother, you were more my mom. I cannot express all you did for me and my siblings. I have been very blessed to know you and for the Lord to have put me in your caring hands. So that I may grow up to be the person with your morals. I was blessed to know you. You brought laughter, smiles and sunshine to every life you touched. Only a moment you stayed, but what an imprint your footsteps have left forever upon my heart. I love you mom until we see each other again.”
