Jarvis Leland Gossett joined Heaven's army on February 10, 2024. Born on February 20, 1949, to James B. (Red) Gossett and Cleo Jones Gossett in Llano, Texas, he moved to San Saba, Texas with his family in 1950.

Jarvis grew strong and tall during his school years in San Saba where he played football for the Golden Armadillos. Those who remember Jarvis from those years remember him as a rambunctious, fun-loving rapscallion.

After high school, Jarvis served two tours in Vietnam. Conversations with his war buddies indicate that on several occasions, Jarvis' heroic actions saved the lives of several of the men in his platoon.

A memorial service at San Saba's First Baptist Church and a private interment were held Friday, February 23, 2024. Pastor Welton Watson officiating.

Jarvis is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Gossett. He is survived by his wife, Mary Gossett; his stepson, Tori Mack; his brother, Dalton Gossett; his sister-in-laws, Judy and Jessie Gossett, and numerous nieces and cousins.
