Author and artist Margie Crisp to speak at Rylander Library next Monday, February 27th

On Monday, February 27th, beginning at 2 p.m., join the Friends of the Rylander Library in welcoming Margie Crisp as she describes her journey from ardent birdwatcher to duck hunter, and the reasons behind her surprising change. Over-coming a life-long aversion to guns was just the beginning as she challenged her notions about hunting, habitat, and wildlife conservation. In writing her experiences, Crisp explores these questions and illustrates to both communities—hunters and naturalists—that one woman can be a birdwatcher, a bird hunter, and above all, a conservationist devoted to preserving habitat for birds and other wildlife.

Margie is a writer and nationally exhibited artist whose work can be found in private and public collections in the United States, Mexico, and throughout Texas. She is the author of the award-winning books River of Contrasts: The Texas Colorado and The Nueces River: Río Escondido. She lives and works near Elgin, Texas.

Following Margie’s presentation, there will be refreshments and an opportunity to visit with her and purchase Duck Walk and her other books.
