Americans are literally paying the price for the Biden Energy Crisis
On October 21st, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) gave an impassioned speech on the House Floor standing up for the American oil and gas industry and against President Biden’s radical anti-American energy agenda.
“Crisis after crisis after crisis.
Madam Speaker,
I rise against the extreme anti-American policies that we see right now being discussed in this forum, in this House.
You know I ask two simple questions of the President. Are you making us more secure, are you making us more prosperous?
And the answer to that is no. Unequivocally no.
We’ve got an anti-American energy movement in this country that is going to devastate every American. It’s going to leave us cold, dark, and hungry. It’s going to embolden our adversaries, and it’s going to harm our environment.
This administration has taken a hard line against American energy by cancelling thousands of pipeline jobs. By cancelling drilling permits, by kneecapping energy producers with targeted tax increases and harmful regulations.
Americans are already feeling the pain of the Biden energy crisis at the gas pump [and] at the grocery store, where we see exorbitant prices that are continuing to skyrocket.
Just today, I had a Democrat colleague that said, ‘’In my district, small businesses are feeling the pain everywhere.’ I said, ‘Well, push back! Stop this
Any vote for reconciliation is a vote against the American worker it’s a vote against American energy.
To make matters worse, heating bills are forecasted to be 54% HIGHER in 2021. Under this administration, make no mistake about it, middle class families will pay the price, and they will be forced to think twice before turning on the heat this winter.
We are nearing an all-out energy emergency eerily close to what our neighbors in Europe are feeling. At $25 dollars for gas. $25 dollars in Europe.
It’s only going to get worse, and instead of unleashing the producers in the Permian Basin where I represent, people who have done more to innovate and bring emissions down to levels that the Paris Climate Accords could have dreamed of, we are cutting them off at the knees.
And the American family— our mothers and fathers—the working class American, that is who is paying for this.
Adversaries whose energy is nowhere near as clean as ours are going to benefit from this.
When you see that today, on average, $3.30 per gallon—over a dollar more at the pump than what we saw last year. It’s only going to get worse.
I’m urging my colleagues to oppose this radical agenda, to stand up for American energy producers and to provide every American household with affordable, reliable energy that has come from this country and allowed us to lift a billion people out of poverty in this world.”
Pfluger Fights Biden’s Authoritarian COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate
Thursday, November 4th, Congressman August Pfluger rebuked the Biden Administration’s authoritarian COVID-19 vaccine mandate:
Rep. August Pfluger: “No worker should be forced to lose their job if they choose to make a different medical decision than President Biden. I will continue to use all tools available to fight this overarching mandate, and I encourage officials at all levels of government do the same.”
Pfluger Pushes Back:
In September, Congressman Pfluger joined Republicans in introducing the Health Freedom for All Act, legislation that would clarify that Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) does not have the authority to force employers to mandate COVID-19 vaccines or testing.
Pfluger has signed multiple letters to the Biden Administration highlighting the impact of the mandate on healthcare workers, border patrol, first responders, and more.
Congressman Pfluger will be proudly championing a Congressional Review Act resolution to rescind the unconstitutional mandate from OSHA.
Rural Texans need real infrastructure— not liberal social programs
Early Saturday morning, November 6th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) voted against the so-called Infrastructure bill:
Rep. August Pfluger: “Rural Texans, responsible for transporting critical energy and agriculture products around the Nation, know better than anyone the need for safe, reliable infrastructure. Sadly, the Senatepassed Infrastructure bill does nothing to improve roads and bridges in rural districts like ours. Instead, this leftist bill placates green special interests, prioritizes urban areas, and wastes taxpayer dollars on unpopular collectivist modes of transportation. Even worse, less than half of the $625 billion package goes to traditional infrastructure—with the rest pouring into liberal social programs. In this bill, Blue state politicians win while Texans get left behind.”
Pfluger, HFAC Republicans Blast the “Dangerous Consequences” of Biden’s Russia Policy
Tuesday, November 16th, Congressman August Pfluger, the Vice Ranking Member for the Europe, Energy, the Environment, and Cyber Subcommittee on House Foreign Affairs joined Lead Republican Member Michael McCaul and other Republicans in sending a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the need for a significantly stronger response from the Biden Administration to deter further Russian aggression against Ukraine.
President Biden’s recent decisions regarding U.S. policy towards Russia – including greenlighting Nord Stream 2, the Russian malign influence pipeline project – are projecting weakness, emboldening the Putin regime, and undermining U.S. credibility with allies and partners.
The Members wrote:
“The United States must do more to demonstrate its unequivocal support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The alternative, we fear, is that continued weakness from this Administration will only invite more brazen Russian aggression. With approximately 90,000 Russian troops and a significant amount of Russian military equipment currently sitting on Ukraine’s border, failing to project strength now would have disastrous consequences.”
Moreover, the Members urged the Biden Administration to be more clear-eyed about the threat posed by the Putin regime, arguing the Administration must recognize “the futility and danger of its policy to build ‘a stable and predictable relationship’ with Russia. The Putin regime’s destabilizing military buildup near Ukraine is just the latest illustration that the Russian president has absolutely no intention of improving relations with the United States. Instead, the Putin regime will continue to exploit the Administration’s concessions and push for dialogue over strong action in pursuit of this policy.”
