I guess you could call them rescue cats. My young grandsons found a weak and starving little kitten in some old lumber and brought it to our house. My wife made warm milk and mixed special food for it. Finally after a lot of tender loving care, the little kitten survived.
A year later, my wife and I were visiting a lady in town that we help from time to time, and a little baby kitten weak and starving came out from under her house. She encouraged my wife to take it and care for it.
Well, it survived, and those two cats have so different personalities. One wants to be with my wife all the time and even follows her. He is such a loving cat and likes to be rubbed on. Now the other cat, that is a different story. She comes around only when she is hungry or thirsty and does not really like to be rubbed on, and if you try, she will scratch or bite you.
Those two cats remind me of something in the Bible. How do we respond to the love of God? God loves us very much, (John 3:16-18, Romans 5:8 & 39). Do we just want what we can get from God, or do we really love Him, (Matthew 22:37, John 15:9)? Do we spend time with God reading the Bible, in church attendance, in prayer, (1 John 4:7-11)? See you in Church next Sunday.
