Pfluger Statement on VP Harris Border Trip
Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement following the announcement that Vice President Harris will finally visit the southern border, nearly 100 days after being appointed the “Border Czar” of the Biden Administration:
“It took months of pressure from those of us in Congress and Texans along the border to finally convince ‘Border Czar’ Vice President Harris to visit the border first-hand. The carnage many Texas communities know all too well will hopefully convince the Vice President to reinstate President Trump’s strong border policies.
“When the Vice President arrives I hope she takes the time to talk to border patrol agents, law enforcement officers, and border families who feel abandoned. I sincerely hope this visit leads to policy changes and an end to the Biden Border Crisis. The border must be secured.”
Pfluger Joins Texans Urging Gov. Abbott to Fight Biden's Radical Gun Control Agenda
On Wednesday, June 23rd, following the Biden Administration’s announcement of new gun control measures, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) joined Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) and other lawmakers in the Texas congressional delegation to send a letter to Governor Abbott supporting the Governor’s efforts to resist these unconstitutional infringements and urging him to continue to fight against the Biden administration’s gun-grabbing agenda.
Gun Owners of America issued the following statement in support of the letter: “The United States was born out of a resistance to tyranny. When the federal government seeks to infringe the rights of its citizens, it’s the duty of the states to stand for freedom, Texas should commit to protecting its citizens from President Biden's ATF as it circumvents Congress to enact a gun ban, regulate gun parts, and prepare a gun registry. GOA applauds Rep. Chip Roy's strong stand for Texans' right to keep and bear arms.”
Pfluger: Midland migrant site to close, but border crisis rages
Thursday, June 24th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement responding to the decision of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to close the Emergency Intake Site for unaccompanied migrant children in Midland, Texas at the end of June.
“Finally, the Midland HHS facility for unaccompanied minors in Midland is slated to close next week,” said Congressman Pfluger. “The Biden Administration has run the facility haphazardly since they first moved in during the dead of night in March. They failed to communicate with local leaders and law enforcement officers, burdened our local hospital system with unpaid claims, and most importantly, kept our community in the dark.
“Though this facility may be closing in Midland, our district is still bearing the brunt of the Biden Border Crisis—with alarming increases in drug and human trafficking, dangerous high-speed chases, increased strain on local law enforcement, and damage to farmland and personal property.
“I will continue putting pressure on the President and Vice President to face reality and secure our border once and for all.”
