Digging the Day

Howdy dear San Saba friends! How are you, still have all your fingers, toes, senses and every last nerve? I will admit the parentals have stepped on a few of mine since last we spoke and of course you will hear all about it but all in all the week has been a good one.

We are fast approaching May and mom is excited because she believes I will start to begin sentences with “Mother may I” Um, she will be disappointed!

I make no secret of being a high maintenance dachshund, nope, I claim it proudly; I do however take issue with it being a problem. I mean look at me, I am adorable, cuddly, tenacious and precious…who wouldn’t want to be around me constantly?

Well, evidently. mom needs to do other things with her life besides cater to my ever wish and whim so dad build a play area out back for me. I am not allowed to roam the backyard freely as the parentals think I have a death wish and hunt, find and ingest things only a goat would eat; and since I am a small dachshund and not a goat it does not work well.

This play area dad built is free of pecans, their shells, poisonous plants, snakes, places to hide, random chicken bones and all things harmful. We all went out on that first day and I got to dig like a dachshund for the first time…so much fun! I even ate an earthworm!

The second day mom brought me out, dad was working in the yard and she stayed to watch me a few minutes and then left to get things done in the house. Mom had not been in the house for very long when I came running in! Dad told her I began crying and barking the minute she left! You see, it isn’t about where I am but who is with me when I am there that creates my Happy Hermaness! I love life because I love my family!

We have all been experiencing a shake-up in life. Even getting basic things have been difficult, but if you think about it our basic needs are being met every day because we have each other.

Life is a delicate balance and a beautiful dance we all can join in on. We may dance in different ways and with varying degrees of talent and enthusiasm, but dance we do.

You know how they say anything worth having is worth fighting for? Well, I am not a fighter but I do believe anything worth having is worth working for, believing in, trusting in, waiting for, and standing for!

I love you my San Saba friends; you mean so very much to me and I adore dancing with you each week. I hope you have a glorious time until next we speak. I will save you an earthworm, eat some grass for you and have lots of fun! Thank you for being!
