Last Saturday, I went to a nearby grocery store to get some buttermilk so I could make cornbread. As I went inside, I noticed a homeless looking person sitting on the sidewalk. When I came out, I went over to him and asked him if he was hungry. He said, “yes.” I said, “I will get you something to eat.” But a van pulled up and the driver told the homeless man to get in. I asked the van driver what was going on. He said, “this is my brother and I cannot get him off the streets”’ He also said, “I am off today and taking him to breakfast.” The driver said he had accepted Jesus Christ and would try to get his brother to Church.
That reminds me of something in the Bible.
We live in a fallen sin-ridden world and live with or see the results of it every day. But there is hope because God loves us and He has proved that on the cross.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world,[a] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:8 ... but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God tries to us to turn to him. We have two choices: we can either draw near to Him or reject Him, (See Revelation 22:10-17).
Both have everlasting consequences.
One, our sins are forgiven we have peace with God and are destined to live with Him forever.
1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,...
The other, we are enemies of God, our sins are not forgiven, and we are destined for Hell,(Hades). , Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,[a] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do[b] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
