I’m enjoying this fall-like weather. A little drop of 5 degrees makes a significant difference after weeks of 100 degree plus weather. We were gifted with a half-inch of rain as well. I pray we can get a nice four-inch steady rain soon.
I hope many of you are checking Facebook to see our volleyball girls playing. They are doing well and their level of play has risen steadily. I’ve mentioned the cheerleaders before, but they are also looking strong and coordinated in their movements. I’m extremely proud of our girls.
Our football boys are rolling along and rolling over our opponents. The next game is on Saturday the 26th in Rockdale. Our opponents are Emery-Weiner, and the game time is 2-3 PM. The girls will play Saturday morning at Mullin, game time 10-11 AM. They will be playing Tuesday at home against Zephyr 6-7 PM. Junior High will play from 5-6 PM. Come out and cheer our Coyote athletes.
Don’t forget this week is Book Fair week and Open House. It’s the perfect time to see how your student is doing. Teachers will have their work on display for you to review. If you need a conference, this is the perfect time to schedule one to discuss any concerns or praise you might like to share. There is not usually time at Open House for long talks.
The quilting ladies tried out a new retreat just north of Brownwood. Happy Jack Sewing Retreat turned out to be perfect. Our hostess Tammy was very hospitable and helpful; the accommodations were brand new and spacious. All six of the ladies gave it a thumbs up and rebooked it for a new date.
We have two events in October, the Trade Days at the Coyote Feed Store and the community potluck. November is busy. There’s a special luncheon given by the Junior class. Proceeds will be shared with the RSPS group, the Community potluck, Christmas Market, and the Skelton Family Thanksgiving luncheon. Keep your eyes peeled for the dates.
The school board will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday the 22nd. Please note there will be a community meeting for the bond proposal on Monday, September the 28th. The community is invited to participate in this question-and-answer event.
Jason Lewis is looking for old yearbooks to buy or trade. If you check his Facebook page. you will see the years he is missing. Don’t forget to subscribe to his Richland Springs Eye-Witness You Tube channel if you want to catch the Friday games.
I know everyone has put the Sandbur Boogie on their calendars for this Saturday from 7-11 PM at the Richland Springs Rodeo Arena. No glass containers please, but coolers are allowed. Food will be available. This is the third year for this event, and it is proving to be a great family and friends night out. Entrance is by donation only. Checks can be made out to the Richland Springs Beautification Committee. Proceeds will be used to continue the newly remodeled downtown corner. Paige Moats posted a notice that there will be a BBQ company out of Bertram coming to the new corner spot Sunday the 27th. The new corner is designed for food trucks. This will be the first truck. The truck will be open from 10:00 to 4 PM. This could be a fun addition to our Sunday gatherings.
Elections are coming up, both federally and locally. Please check out the issues at stake. Federally, we have reached a stage where you cannot vote for the person but must vote for the party platform. Please check out both party platforms to see which platform aligns with your beliefs. Pray for our elections, for our politicians, for our President and the wars around the world. Pray for the Iranian people to get their freedom back. We need more rain and for prices to come back down. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
