Commissioners work through busy November

The San Saba County Commissioners Court had a busy November with four meetings addressing topics such as equipment, transportation, infrastructure and repairs.

On Nov. 10, the full commissioners court unanimously approved the following items:

• Approval of CPA Kevin Shahan to perform an annual audit ending September 30, 2025, for San Saba County

• Kenley Kroll made the motion to approval of a new premium rate in MASA Access Emergency Medical Plan Coverage of $14 per employee

• Approval of the Conservation Contracts for Byron Theodosis, Pct. 4 and Doyle Lindsey, CR 430 Pct 4

• Acceptance of a check from Law Enforcement Partners in the amount of $549 for the Sheriff’s Office and to be deposited into Sheriff’s Account

• Acceptance of the FY 2026 Justice Assistance Grant Program award in the amount of $15,332.03 for the shields and helmets project

• Acceptance of the FY 2026 Criminal Justice Program award in the amount of $35,916.00 for rifle vests

• Auctioning off the 2013 Ford Taurus that was used by the Justice of the Peace, the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe that was used as the K9 unit and the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe used by the Sheriff’s Department. (The auctions were set for Dec. 3 in Goldthwaite.)

• Approval of the purchase of the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for the Sheriff’s Office from Tegler Chevrolet at a cost of $50,900, along with outfitting services from Profit Outfitters priced at $34,798, (bringing the total to $85,698 to be funded by the SB22 Funds).

• Approval of the purchase of a 2024 Ford Transit Cargo Van for the Sheriff’s Office from Bayer Chevrolet for $47,437.58 with outfitting services from ProFit Outfitters costing $18,648.00, (total to $66,085.58 to be funded by SB22 Funds)

• Approval of the Interlocal with Mitchell County and San Saba County on Inmate Housing.

• Approval of Paula Mc-Gregor to the Board of Trustee of Central Texas Mental Health Mental Retardation DBA Center for Life Resources Center (with Greg McGregor abstaining from discussion and vote).

All Reports were unanimously accepted at the beginning of the meeting with the criminal housing report from the jail indicating a total of 337 days with a monthly average of 10.87 days.

A special meeting was held Nov. 14 in which representatives from the Texas Division of Emergency Management outlined their strategies for cleaning the state’s waterways and explained how they plan to inform the residents of San Saba County about the application process for accessing these resources.

Commissioners also canvassed the Nov. 4 constitutional amendments election and unanimously approved.

At the Nov. 18 regular meeting, Commissioners were informed that Planning and communication on preparation for construction of the dispatch building is still ongoing.and voted to keep the burn ban in place and table finalizing roof repairs for the library.

The burn ban was lifted in the Nov. 24 meeting and the Commissioners unanimously voted to reopen bids for TPO Roofing for the Rylander Memorial Library roofing and air conditioning work following discussion of an increase in the roofing project.

Also in the Nov. 24 meeting, Commissioners unanimously approved the San Saba County Cafeteria Plan and tabled a conservation contract to the December meeting.

Accounts payable were also accepted unanimously in the Nov. 10 and Nov. 24 meetings.
