Terry Lee Thornton

Terry Lee Thornton, born March 17, 1967, set out on his final journey on April 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy filled with warmth and kindness, storytelling, and a deep love for his family and the great outdoors. He was the son of Johnnie 'Cotton' and Jeannean Thornton and a cherished brother to Dale and Cristy Thornton.

From an early age, Terry's spirit was infused with a love for God, and he was baptized at San Saba's First Baptist Church. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and he could often be found immersed in the pages of books, with a particular fondness for the works of Louis L'amour and flipping through the pages of Guns and Ammo. Terry was a lifelong resident of San Saba and a graduate of San Saba High School, class of 1985.

But Terry's true passion lay in the great outdoors, where he found joy in activities like hunting and fishing. He was a master storyteller, known for weaving captivating tales that often took on a life of their own, earning him the affectionate nickname 'Tornado.' He loved fixing up trucks and equipment, always happiest when his hands were busy.

Family meant the world to Terry, especially his nieces, Kinley and Carley, and nephew, Jackson. He had a knack for finding little treasures to make them smile, whether it was a pocket knife, a toy horse, or a rock with a story to tell. Terry delighted in their wonder finding treasures that would bring joy to his loved ones.

Terry will be fondly remembered for his boundless kindness, his unwavering loyalty, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. His departure leaves a profound sadness in the hearts of all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.

While Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Cotton and Jeannean Thornton; his memory will be cherished by his brother, Dale and sister-in-law Tracy Thornton; his sister, Cristy Thornton; his nieces, Kinley and Carley; his nephew, Jackson; his aunt, Elyse Peavy; and countless cousins and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.

As we say goodbye to Terry, may we hold onto the memories of his laughter, his love, and the stories he shared. May his spirit continue to inspire kindness, laughter, and love in the world he leaves behind.

A Come and Go Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas.
