Lee Miller was born to Archie Thomas Miller and Edna Wilborn on December 8, 1953, in Brady, Texas. He attended school at Richland Springs and graduated from Rochelle ISD in 1972. He married the love of his life, and forever dance partner, Paula Hill, on September 15, 1973. They loved and raised three children and had a hand in raising an untold number of other kids that passed through their lives over the years.
Lee worked in local industries, and functioned as a foreman of a custom harvesting crew for several years. Summers spent on the harvest crew helped many young men grow into the solid men that God meant them to be. The memories and stories from the harvest were made to last a lifetime.
He founded Lee Miller Construction which grew from building metal barns to designing and building functional and eye-catching barndominiums. Lee's work was some of the best in the country, and the skills he had with his hands created works of art that will live on in the lives of many.
Lee loved horses and rodeo and passed that love on to his children. He was always involved in the local rodeo scene and was a driving force behind the youth rodeos at Elm Grove and Richland Springs. When the Richland Springs rodeo was discontinued for many years after the arena was taken down, he and a group of like-minded locals got together and built a new arena so a new generation could feel the love of a good rodeo. He was always ready to put in the work to get a roping fundraiser together for a good cause. Work, have fun, and help your neighbor. That is the way that Lee Miller lived.
Lee is survived by his wife, Paula Miller, of Richland Springs; son, Clayton Miller, also of Richland Springs; daughter, Shawna Garrett and husband Curtis of Coleman, Texas; four grandchildren: Payton, McCall, Audey, and Creek; brothers: Royce Miller and wife Sindy of Brownwood, and Jack Miller and wife Shirley of Zephyr; sisters, Christy Storey of Brownwood, and Cara Foster of Port Aransas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jo Lei Miller; brothers: Tommy Miller, James Miller, and Gene Miller; and sisters, Dorothy Shore and Karen Dotson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Richland Springs Rodeo Association Scholarship Fund, PO Box 183, Richland Springs, Texas 76871.
