It’s time again for the Never Surrender Cancer Foundation fundraiser.
Never Surrender Cancer Foundation is a non-profit foundation that was started a few years ago when we saw a need to assist patients with travel expenses while undergoing treatment for cancer. Since San Saba is a rural community without a hospital or cancer treatment center, each cancer patient must travel outside the county for treatments and doctor appointments. That’s where we step in and provide the patients with mileage to and from treatment, money for meals, and lodging if needed. We raise money by doing this fundraiser every other year. We have been blessed to have the San Saba High School student council donate the funds each year from the sale of the pink out shirts. The elementary and middle schools joined in and had a coin drive. They recently raised almost $9,000 for the foundation between the three campuses. All money raised stays in San Saba County to assist cancer patients.
If you know someone that needs assistance with cancer treatments, you can contact us or pick up an application at Commercial National Bank.
The Casino Night Dinner and Dance is on Saturday, October 21st, at the San Saba Civic Center. We will start with a spaghetti dinner at 6:30 p.m., then start the dance and open the casino shortly after. You can save $10 by purchasing presale tickets at Alamo Pecan and Coffee, Commercial National Bank, Arrowhead Bank, City National Bank and Pecan Valley Hardware. We will have a silent auction and a live auction with some great items donated by local businesses and individuals. When you enter the event, your ticket gets you into the dance, a meal, and a $5,000 commemorative casino chip. You can take your chip to the casino to gamble, or you can trade it in for tickets to win one of our awesome door prizes. There will be Blackjack, Texas Hold‘em, Roulette, Craps and Slots. It’s always a fun time for everyone, so bring a friend and make memories. You don’t have to be a gambler to enjoy the evening while supporting a great cause. Mark Scott and the Southern Comfort Band will provide the music for the event and is sponsored by TexAir HVAC.
We have many more that donated items for our San Saba Baskets with the best of San Saba. Hope to see you Saturday night!
