Dear Editor,
I want to start this note with a great big THANK YOU for the successful Baylor Scott & White/San Saba County Blood Drive that was held on Tuesday, April 18th, at the San Saba First Baptist Church!!
I have the results from a total of 45 donors who were registered or signed up during the drive, and 35 units were collected. Let me repeat that: 35 units were sent back to the hospital to be used by any and all that are in great need!!
We had 35 donors pre-registered for the drive and three noshows of the pre-registered donors. We had 12 walk-in donors, which includes donors that were signed up but not pre-registered and donors that signed up during the drive. We had seven donors deferred onsite; not much we can do other than educate them and encourage them to try again.
Remember that any units collected are always most welcomed contributions to our local community. The patients impacted by this drive are fortunate that we have such a giving community.
I would also like to thank those donors who traveled from outside of our county specifically for this blood drive! [Brady, Llano, San Angelo] I look forward to the next drive on July 18th, and remember DQ is giving donors a FREE ICE CREAM CONE! Marsha B. Hardy, EMC, CFM
