Oh what a summer. And we are only a third of the way through it. I keep reminding myself that we are past summer solstice so each day is fractionally shorter than the one before—a week from today, daytime will be ten seconds shorter than today. That is a little something to hold onto.

It is proving a little difficult to get the column out this week. So far, the photos I’ve tried to send are not moving, the emails are stuck in the outbox, and even my text messages are staying with me. I sincerely hope this will get to Newspaper. I’m having a quiet but refreshing visit.

The San Saba Golden Armadillo Band has accepted an invitation to participate in a movie soundtrack workshop on the Disney Imagination Campus at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in June 2024. We are excited to be given a chance to provide this incredible opportunity for our students.

On July 13, 2023, following the investigation of the incident, additional charges have been filed against Lilana Simental-Valenzuela. She has been charged with Criminal Mischief $750-$2,500 and Arson of a Habitation, a first degree felony. She is being held with a $108,500 bond amount.

Commissioners’ Court meetings are open to the public, and all are welcome to attend. The Court works very hard researching, learning about, discussing, and deciding important issues for San Saba County. Several County employees are also present at these meetings and give reports from their offices.

San Saba Volunteer Firefighters were called to Colorado Bend State Park the afternoon of Friday, July 14th, where a large portion of a massive live oak tree fell onto the Park headquarters building. The building suffered extensive damage, but no one was hurt.
